In India, Jet Airway passengers were recently involved in a horrific incident, where they bled from their ears and noses. This incident took place in a flight from Mumbai in Western India to Jaipur in north when the cockpit crew forgot to switch on the cabin pressure system. Several videos have come online showing this terrible mishap.

According to the reports, out of the 166 passengers on board, more than 30 suffered from ear and nose bleeds while many other complained of migraines.

After the commotion, this Boeing 377 aircraft had to return to Mumbai. The onboard passengers received treatment at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, after this grave error was brought to the light. It was reported that 8 people have been hospitalized.

The aviation authorities gave a confirmation that the cabin crew involved in this incident has been taken off duty while the incident is being investigated.

The Jet Airways later told that the plane was landed safely and first aid was provided to anyone who needed it. They also arranged alternative flights for the stranded passengers. However, many passengers showed their displeasure. One of them expressed his anger on social media, “The plane had to make an emergency landing. The cabin crew was unprofessional while ground staff were inept. No reps or guides.”

A senior official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, India’s aviation regulator, talked about his incident.

According to Lalit Gupta, this mishap occurred as the crew had forgotten to turn a switch on to maintain cabin pressure. Jet Airways released a statement stating loss in cabin pressure as the reason for flight returning back. They also told that they regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers.

According to the statement, “The B737 aircraft, with 166 guests and five crew landed normally in Mumbai. All guests were deplaned safely and taken to the terminal.”

“First aid was administered to few guests who complained of ear pain, bleeding nose etc.,” the statement continued, “The flight’s cockpit crew has been taken off scheduled duties pending investigation. The airline is making alternative flights arrangements for guests on this flight.” They also added, “Jet Airways regrets the inconvenience caused to its guests.”
