Not all of us are lucky enough to randomly come across a huge sum of money. But what would you do if you suddenly find £1,000? Would you keep the money or would you contact the rightful person to return them their hard-earned money?

Well if you have any doubts then perhaps this incident will help you in making a quick decision!

A student bought a pair of trainers from eBay and found £1,000 inside them.

The 19 year-old-student, Ella Gilman, decided to return the money. The seller was shocked by this incident as Ella, who studies at Manchester Metropolitan University, had returned the money within 25 minutes after she got her purchase. The cash was stuffed in an envelope in one of the shoes.

To return the money, Ella got in touch with the seller who lives 260 miles away!

The previous owner, Laura Hazeldine, was stunned when a student contacted her and told her about her mistake. Laura is a resident of Brighton, East Sussex. After Laura gave her bank details to Ella, the money was deposited in her bank account within 25 minutes.

Laura publicly thanked Ella and shared that this incident has finally her restored faith in the humanity.

Laura had saved this cash but couldn’t get it deposited as her local branch had closed. Therefore, she decided to hide it in her house to keep it safe. However, later she had forgotten where she had put all that cash.

Things got interesting when she decided to sell a pair of trainers that her teenage daughter used to wear.

Unknown to the fact that she had hidden her hard earned money in that particular pair of trainers, she sent the footwear along with the money to Ella, who lived in Manchester. Laura said, “I hid the money in the house and I was convinced I’d lost it.”

“She had the money in my account within 25 minutes of speaking to me. I am just absolutely blown away,” she shared.

“It means so much more to me than just returning the money,” she told after being inspired by Ella’s kind deed, “I refunded her the money for the trainers and I’m sending her some vouchers too.” She added, “I want to figure out a way to thank her and I’m hoping there’s a festival or restaurant which will be able to do something nice for her.”

But Laura didn’t just stop there!

“If I was wealthy, I’d do more for her. I’m going to contact her university because people should know what a genuine person she is. She’s one in a million,” Laura continued, “I don’t think many other people would have contacted me to say they had found £1,000 in a trainer. She even sent me a photo of the bank receipt.”

Ella’s honesty and integrity have blown Laura away.

According to Laura, “She’s really inspired people and the reaction has been so positive.” After this incident, Ella shared, “My reaction when I saw the money was shock. I opened the shoes and found an envelope stuffed in the shoe, thinking she had just stuffed the shoe to keep them from creasing.”

Ella added, “I thought, if I had lost that substantial amount of money, I would hope someone would return it to me also.”

She continued, “I was glad I had returned the money, to see how grateful Laura was and how upset she was without the money.” Talking about how Laura refunded the money for the shoes, Ella told that it totally took her by surprise.

Well, this is probably why they say that no good deed goes unrewarded! Now, it’s up to you to decide what you do if you ever come across a similar situation.
